Briefing and Film Starting Point

Today we had our briefing and received our starting point for our collaborative film.

The film will be a comedy of 30seconds - 2 mins in length. We will be using a pre-made model and editing it to create individual characters. We will also use a fixed camera set up in order to keep the animation simple. We will not be using a voice over unless absolutely nescessary.

We will be assessed on 3 elements:

• The Animated short
• The making of document
• The Crit Presentation

We then decided to develop two of these and see what scenarios we could come up with to fit in with each prompt. 

When not to answer the door

• Religious missionaries 
• Halloween - eggs being thrown
• Christmas - creepy carollers
• Naked from the bath
• Cold caller - selling something weird
• Pyromaniac
• Cute/ferocious dog
• Really boring in laws

The idea that we had was that it would be the same person opening the door each time and looking increasingly fed up with the stupid stuff that’s happening. 

When not to laugh 

• Being fired
• When you hurt yourself
• Someone is angry at you
• At a funeral
• Being dumped
• Being killed
• Child crying

Our idea was that maybe this would follow someone through their life. The person would be shown at different ages, laughing in different inappropriate situations, from being a small child to them being killed because they didn’t take it seriously. 

We’d be greatful for any feedback on ideas and any other avenues to follow. That would be great!
